GaNeal McBride Fogg November 6, 1945 – July 29, 2025
GaNeal McBride Fogg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2025, in Wilder, Idaho. She was 79 years old.
GaNeal was born on November 6, 1945, in Burley, Idaho, the youngest of six children to LeRoy McBride and Vera Darrington McBride. She was raised on a 140-acre dry farm and was a proud descendant of Mormon pioneers. Her childhood was rich in the values of faith, hard work, and creativity. She learned to bake, sew and play the piano from her mother—skills she would carry with her throughout her life.
GaNeal graduated from Burley High School in 1964. She went on to study at Ricks College, earning an associate’s degree in Elementary Education in 1967. It was there, while standing in the registration line for summer school in 1966, that she met the love of her life, Jerry Fogg. They were married on May 12, 1967, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She and Jerry honeymooned at Warm Lake, sparking a lifelong love for the outdoors. Together, they camped, fished, and explored much of central and southern Idaho, creating lasting memories on every adventure. Some of their favorite places included Warm Lake, Owyhee Reservoir and Hells Canyon, where they spent countless hours fishing and enjoying the beauty of nature. GaNeal especially loved hiking with her children and grandchildren and sharing her love of the mountains. She enjoyed picking huckleberries and blackberries and marveling at wildflowers—most of which she could name.
GaNeal and Jerry lived in Caldwell and Twin Falls before settling in Wilder, Idaho, in 1974, where they would spend the next five decades. GaNeal taught school in Marsing for two years before choosing to stay home and raise their family. Once her children were older, she returned to work and spent 17 years with the Idaho State Tax Commission.
GaNeal was the mother of five children: Jason, Carolee, Jeri Ann, Doug, and DeDe. She loved reading to them and supporting them at school programs, concerts, or sporting events. She was a football fan, faithfully following both Boise State and BYU.
She was a wonderful baker, legendary for her chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and homemade rolls that were loved by all who tasted them. GaNeal was a skilled seamstress who often sewed and altered clothes for her family. She made jean quilts for her children and grandchildren, which were well-used and well-loved. GaNeal also crocheted countless afghans, often gifting them to family and friends, and always making one to welcome each new baby. She also contributed quilts for humanitarian efforts.
She was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Primary President, Young Women’s President, Relief Society President, and Seminary teacher.
An avid reader and faithful journal writer, GaNeal documented her life and those of her loved ones with care and humor. For many years, she published a family newsletter called The McNews, bringing extended family closer with each edition.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Vera McBride, and her brother, Arvel McBride.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Jerry Fogg; her children Jason (Karalee), Carolee (Kingsley), Jeri Ann, Doug (Terra), and DeDe; her grandchildren Brenna (Aidan), Cambree, Bridger (Mariah), Hillary, Victoria, Joseph, Dorothy, Porter, and Zeke; and great-grandchildren Rynn and Finneas. She is also survived by her siblings Vera Mae, Owen (Renae), Jean, Beth, and sister-in-law Kay, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Church in Homedale, Idaho. A viewing will take place prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Interment will follow at Wilder Cemetery in Wilder, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapels.
