At UK Carol met the love of her life, Sam Harper, whom she married in June of 1965. They made their home in Danville, KY, where their children Paul and Sally were born. Carol taught middle and high school English in Lexington and Boyle County. An avid reader, Carol was active in book clubs in both Danville and Elizabethtown. A volunteer for Habitat for Humanity as well as a lifelong Baptist and active member at the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville and the Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.
