Haralambos ""Bobby"" Themistoklis Galatas
April 1st, 1939 - August 2nd, 2025
CHARLOTTE – Haralambos “Bobby” Themistoklis Galatas, 86, passed away on August 2, 2025. Bobby was born April 1, 1939 in Paleochori Evrytanias, Greece, son of Themistoklis Galatas and Maria Papadokostopoulou Galatas.
Bobby was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a talented and dedicated Carpenter for over 65 years, a craft he truly loved and mastered. With strong hands and a generous heart, he could build just about anything, always putting care and pride into his work.
He loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, tending to his garden, or grilling and cooking for his family and friends. But his favorite spot was always his front porch. That’s where you’d find him most days, waving to neighbors and keeping an eye on the street. To many, he was more than just a neighbor, he was the “mayor” of the block, always looking out for others and making everyone feel welcome. Bobby was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Bobby will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Maria Pitsonis (Kostas), Aphrodite Katopodis (Nick); his loving grandchildren, Yianni Pitsonis (Penny) and Ava Katopodis; his brothers, Serafim Galatas (Sotiria), of Parlin, New Jersey and Spiros Galatas (Stavroula) of Kremaston, Evrytanias, Greece, his sisters Christina Toufekias and Anastasia Zaravelis of Athens, Greece, sister-in-law Marika Galatas of Paleochori, Evrytanias, his cousin Demetrios Galatas (Ioulia) of Charlotte, NC, his sister-in-law Spiridoula Kakavitsas of Charlotte, NC. His brother-in-laws, Mihalis Zaharopoulos, Giorgos Zaharopoulos (Stavroula) and Kostas Zaharopoulos (Dimitra), all of Kalamata, Greece. He is also survived by his goddaughter Christina Kakavitsa of Volos, Greece, and his many nieces and nephews whom he all loved dearly.
Bobby was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Eleni Galatas , his parents Themistoklis and Maria Galatas, his in-laws Dimitrios and Aphrodite Zaharopoulos, his brother Ioannis Galatas, his sister-in-laws, Koula Galatas, Yiannoula Kakavitsas, Eftihia Pappa and Evagelia Zaharopoulou, his brother-in-laws Dimitrios Toufekias, Sprios Zaravelis, Haralambos Kakavitsas, Nikolaos Kakavitsas, Serafim Galatas and Nikolaos Pappas and nephews Nick Kakavitsas, Tom Galatas and Athanasios Kanellos.
Viewing will take place from 10 am to 11am Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 with services following at 11am.
