Geraldine Nantz Ballard

Geraldine Nantz Ballard, 92, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at Sonata East in Viera, Florida.  She was born in Mooresville, NC to Glenn and Virginia Nantz.  Gerry, along with her husband Macon and four children, moved to Indian Harbour Beach in 1962. She was a long-time beloved substitute teacher in the Brevard County Public School System.

Whether known as Gerry, Miss Ballard, Mom, Grandma, GG, or Judge Geraldine, she was an instantly recognizable presence in any room she entered – with the grace of a southern lady (who would never leave the house without wearing lipstick) and solid commitment to her values. She was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan, spending decades cheering the successes of her athletic sons, daughters and grandchildren. Strong willed, determined, loyal, loving and always cheerful – she lived a full and thoughtful life dedicated to her family, and for which she will be remembered.

Gerry is survived by son Pete (Trine) Ballard, daughters Ginny (David) O’Neal and Jerrie Lynn Frazier, and daughter-in-law Donna Vincent Ballard.  Eight grandchildren: Ryan Ballard, Nicole Siedel, Neil Ballard, Jennifer Helton, Jake Frazier, Jamie Marquardt, Kelly O’Neal Abreu, Patrick Goodin and 12 Great Grandchildren.  She was predeceased by husband Macon Ballard, son Butch Ballard, son-in-law John Frazier, brother Dr. Rodney Nantz, sister Gwen Cox, and her parents.
