Shirley Ann Sherwin (Shirvinskas) Teske
July 23rd, 1937 - July 27th, 2025
“If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.”
Shirley passed away at home in her beloved cottage on Lake Ripley, Cambridge, Wisconsin surrounded by her family. She was so many things to so many people, the world will forever be changed without her in it.
Shirley grew up in Rockford, Illinois where she raised her family. She was a beautician, taught cosmetology and was beloved by her students. After retirement, she went to work for the State’s Attorney’s Office in Rockford. When she left Rockford to live at the family cottage on Lake Ripley, she went to work for the Hometown Newspaper and wrote a column called “From Shirley’s Cottage”. Her Family stories and Cambridge musings can still be found in older editions of the newspaper.
Shirley is the daughter of Edward Paul Sherwin (Shirvinskas) and Helen Sherwin (Shakotzus) both deceased. She lived a long life surviving the earlier losses of her husband Teddy Lee Teske, sister Donna Carroll, and grandson Samuel Gunnar T. Goldsworthy.
Shirley stayed strong though the trials of aging. Her strength, sense of humor, and love held strong.
She is survived by daughters Debra Ann Teske, Kelly Lea Teske (James Dahl), Tracy Lynn Teske Donlon (Jack) and son, Ted Edward Teske (Jill Stevens).
She was a loving grandma to Paige Nicole T. Goldsworthy Winn (Chris), great grandkids; (Hadley and Reed) Teddy Richard Teske, Jade Jennifer T. Jacobson Fanopoulos (Ioannis).
Family was so important to Shirley, and she would want to include her nieces and nephew and their families; Corri Wilson (Bob) kids; Jake and Abby, Jennifer Kolkmeyer (John), kids; Mallory and Morgan, Michael Bredeson, kids; Sheena and Mikala and many great nieces and nephews.
A very special thanks to Visiting Angels of Madison.
Shirley had the most professional and loving care from her caregivers Megan and Peggy followed by Rainbow Hospice in Jefferson, Wisconsin.
Per Shirley’s wishes, no formal ceremony will be held.
Shirley’s favorite proverb (Scottish 16:28) “If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.”
Nitardy Cambridge Funeral Home is assisting the family.
