William "Bill" Del Hanson
January 23rd, 1958 - July 28th, 2025
William Del “Bill” Hanson, 67, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025, in Evans, Colorado, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Born on January 23,1958, in Fargo, North Dakota, Bill graduated from Fargo South High School in 1975. He spent most of his childhood in Hawthorne, California as well as New York, Maryland, and Fargo, then later moved to Whittier, California, where he began working at Home Depot. It was there he met the love of his life, Kelly Worthington. The two were married on December 9, 1990, and their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, was born on July 28,1994. Together they built a life centered around family and community. They loved their sunny California, but relocated to Greeley, Colorado in 2009 to be closer to Kelly’s relatives in Wyoming and Colorado.
Bill was a devoted husband and father who found his greatest happiness at home. He often said that the best place to be was wherever Kelly and Sarah were. A true homebody at heart, he cherished quiet moments with his loved ones and the simple pleasures of life. He was a talented guitar player, carpenter, and gardener. He loved Harley motorcycles and enjoyed motorcycle rallies even attending the famous Sturgis Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota one time. He enjoyed movies, rock concerts, and spirited political discussions…and no day was complete without his beloved Pepsi. He firmly believed that a day without Pepsi was like a day without sunshine. He was especially fond of In-N-Out Burger, even owned a cap and t-shirt with their logo. Bill was a proud grandfather and always looked forward to visits from his four grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kelly Hanson; daughter Sarah Elizabeth Miller and her husband Jason; grandchildren Margaret Jo, Fred Xavier, Amelia Rose, and Wanda Lynn Miller; daughter Christina Hanson from a previous marriage; sister Cathy Holen and husband Mike; niece Sherri Smith and husband Ryan and their children Anthony, Julia, Penelope, and Josie Smith; niece Samantha Stevenson and husband Robert; in-laws Newt and Virginia Worthington; sister-in-law Cathy Moen and her husband Mark; brother-in-law Guy Worthington and his wife Amy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews on Kelly’s side of the family. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Margaret Cameron; parents Gordon and Jeanette Hanson; nephew Anthony Holen; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A humble man, Bill requested that a service not be held in his honor.
