Jared Radcliff Mannering was born August 1, 1977, in Fort Collins, Colorado, the second child of Doug and Lynette Mannering.  He died on July 21, 2025, in Fort Collins.

Jared was a very active young man, involved in Scouting, band, cross country, rugby, and soccer, his primary sport.  He was captain of his high school soccer team for 3 years.  He graduated in 1996 from Thompson Valley High School. Jared was a member of his high school National Honor Society and was active in church youth group, choir and mission trips.  Music spoke to him, especially Christian and Country.  Four years of college took him to beautiful Bozeman, Montana where he continued his love of rugby on a club team and honed his skiing and fly-fishing skills.  He had many other hobbies throughout life, including hiking and camping.  He cared deeply about other people and could relate to anyone he got to know.  Jared graduated in 2000 with a Sociology degree and a minor in Justice Studies.

After college, Jared worked as a security guard, a ski instructor at Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana, a hotshot firefighter in Alaska and down the western states of the U.S. and then for Kodak Colorado in Security, Fire and Health.  He married Aimee Bruton in 2003, and in 2007, their daughter Shayla Lyn was born.  Though he and Aimee divorced, Shayla continued to be an important focus of his life. Jared loved her beyond words.

Jared volunteered for the Loveland Fire Department, where he performed firefighting, rescue, EMS, hazmat, and operated fire apparatus including driving fire trucks.  The Longmont Fire Services Division hired him full-time in 2005.  Firefighting was his dream, and he responded to an untold number of tragic calls, suffering PTSD from the death and tragedy he saw throughout his career.  He was actively involved in multiple emergency rescues of people and pets during the 2013 floods in Boulder and Longmont, for which he was grateful to have a positive impact. The work took a physical and mental toll on him, resulting in Jared’s partial disability retirement in 2015.

After his disability, Jared worked in several positions related to his Social Work degree and enrolled at CSU in their Master of Social Work program.  Dogs were Jared's best buddies, even going into the Montana backcountry with Jared and his friends on their ski outings.  While at CSU, he interned for HABIC (Human-Animal Bond in Colorado) and worked as a graduate research assistant. He was a natural working with therapy dogs in various settings and loved that work very much.

Jared had an intimate relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ.  He enjoyed being involved for over 2 years with Summit View Church in Fort Collins and decided to be baptized as an adult last Easter Sunday.  He was active in a small group and was also a greeter.

Jared is survived by his daughter, Shayla, of Denver, his parents, Doug and Lynette of Loveland, his sister, Mandie (Steve Hoehne) of Colorado Springs, and his nephews, Evan Hoehne, of Denver, and Grant Hoehne, of Colorado Springs.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, other relatives and friends.  Please join us for a Memorial/Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 533 Grant Ave. Loveland.  Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by a casual reception.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice in Jared's name.
