Donald Harold Schulz
December 29, 1929 – July 23, 2025
Donald Harold Schulz, beloved husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 95.
Born on December 29, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, moved to Michigan spending his early years working on the family farm and participated in FFA and 4-H. From a young age, he developed a strong work ethic, a love for nature and love of his animals.
Don and Ruth were owners of two businesses in Michigan. He proudly served as a volunteer Fireman for over 30 years, a reflection of his quiet courage and selfless dedication to others. Don was the kind of man who built his own home, loved gardening and found endless joy watching birds, passing on his love of nature to his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Michigan and horseback riding in the deserts of Az with close friends.
Don and Ruth shared 70 years of marriage filled with adventure, and a shared appreciation for history and travel. After retirement, they spent their summers in Michigan near the lakeshore and their winters in the Arizona mountains.
He is survived by his daughters Raeann Burdette (husband Kurt, deceased), Cindy Williams (John), and Laura Shinske (Tom); his grandchildren Amber, Mason (Candice), Laurel (Joe), Adam (Sarah), and Morgan (Nate); 11 great-grandchildren; his sister Marilyn Brown (Tom); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, brother Gordon (Andrea), son-in-law Kurt Burdette, and grandson Kyle Shinske.
Don’s legacy is one of quiet strength, compassion, and service. He was a loving father and grandfather who touched the lives of everyone he met — a man who lived simply, gave generously, and led by example. His family remembers him as a constant source of comfort and wisdom, with a gentle spirit and a kind heart.
