Jose Luis Declet Lopez
November 12th, 1972 - August 2nd, 2025
In Loving Memory
Jose Luis Declet, 52, passed away on August 2nd in Salinas California. Born on November 12, 1972, in Ensenada, Puerto Rico, he was the baby boy of Miriam Ayllon and Jose Declet.
Jose is survived by his loving wife, Hydee; his devoted mother, Miriam; his sons, Jordan, Jose (JJ), and Christian; his sisters, Beatriz, Betzy, and Vanessa; his cherished dogs Bella and Gea, and an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
For 30 years, he worked as a network engineer, but the place he really felt alive was by the water in Monterey. Give him a fishing rod, a cold beer, his boys, and he was in his happy place.
He also enjoyed watching boxing, drumming his congas, breakdancing (in his early years) and dancing in the mirror to salsa music. To say he will be missed is to say a sunset is pretty – It doesn’t come close.
His laughter was loud, his love was pure, and his joy was infectious. To be around him was to feel alive. That kind of presence doesn’t fade—it stays with us.

We Entrusted Jose Declet Lopez's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
