Ann Marie (Cunningham) Westmeyer

November 11, 1946 – August 3, 2025

Ann Marie Westmeyer, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Parker, Colorado on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Born on November 11, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, Ann was the beloved daughter of William and Dale Cunningham. As part of a military family, she experienced life in various places before settling in Hannibal, Missouri, where she graduated from Hannibal High School in 1964. She began her college education at Hannibal LaGrange University and later transferred to Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State University), where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1968.

It was there she met the love of her life, David F. Westmeyer. They were married on August 30, 1970, at First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal and remained devoted to one another for 55 beautiful years.

Ann’s early career included work as a grocery store clerk and then as a dedicated grade school teacher for over a decade. After taking time off to raise her son, she returned to the workforce as an executive assistant at Oppenheimer Mutual Funds, where she remained until her retirement in 2008.

In 1981, Ann and her family relocated to Lakewood, Colorado for her husband’s job with the railroad. They later settled in Littleton, where they lived for over three decades before moving to Parker to be closer to family.

Ann had a vibrant spirit and a wide array of passions. She loved bowling, reading, playing jacks and Rummikub, and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all, she was a proud and devoted baseball mom — faithfully cheering on her son Dave through every season for the past 41 years. He was truly the apple of her eye.

A true restaurant enthusiast, Ann loved discovering new places but had a special fondness for Indochine Thai in Parker, where she was a familiar and cherished regular. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and Hosanna Lutheran Church in Littleton. Her love for animals, especially Scottish Terriers, led her to become an active supporter of Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue, from which she adopted several beloved companions.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, David F. Westmeyer; her son, David F. Westmeyer II; and her son’s fiancée, Elizabeth G. Ulatowski. She is also survived by her siblings: Ellen (Bill) Shrum of Ames, Iowa; Mary Cunningham of Columbia, Missouri; Jim (Javier) Cunningham of Columbia, Missouri; and Bill (Cheryl) Cunningham of Palmyra, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dale Cunningham, and her grandparents, Nell and Joseph Weyand.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Community Center in Stepping Stone (Lantern House), 11511 W. Stepping Stone Circle, Parker, CO 80134. More details to follow.

If compelled, memorial donations may be made in Ann’s name to Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue at P.O. Box 1844, Arvada, CO 80001, or online at www.rockiemountainscottierescue.com.

Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a truly wonderful woman — a devoted wife, a loving mother, a loyal friend. Her kindness, generosity, sharp wit, and warm laughter left a lasting mark on everyone she met. Family was her world, and she gave her heart to them fully and without hesitation. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit will continue to shine in every memory, every story, and every cherished moment shared. She will live on in our hearts forever.
