"Always be kind"
Zelda Fern Klein, 86, peacefully passed into the arms of her Savior on August 8, 2025. She was born on September 10, 1938, to parents Lawrence and Ruby Sammons in Winslow, Arizona. On November 17, 1957, she married the love of her life, Cruz J. Klein. She is survived by her husband, Cruz; son Bruce (Linda) Klein; daughter Stephanie (Vance) Fossinger; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and who will carry her love with them always.
With her constant optimism and resilience, she was the steady, unwavering foundation of her family. She loved to talk about the many places the family lived during Cruz’s 22 years in the military, with each move bringing new friendships, experiences, and opportunities to get involved in church and social activities. She was active in many Masonic organizations, including Rainbow for Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, and Beauceant, and she had countless friends from each who will remember her for her smile and loving nature. In 2009, she was honored to travel the state as Grand Escort to her daughter Stephanie and was thrilled to be appointed Grand Representative to Tennessee in 2010.
Zelda loved the outdoors and was an avid angler, hunter, hiker, and camper. She found peace in God’s creation and loved sharing it with her family. When she wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, Zelda could be found knitting or sewing. After lovingly creating handmade gifts for her family, she turned her talents outward — knitting scarves for the homeless and baby blankets for local hospitals.
Zelda lived a life of devotion — to God, to family, to country, and to community. She saw the best in everyone and inspired others to do the same, living faithfully by her guiding principle: “Always be kind.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 18th. Lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at noon at Heart of the Springs Church in Colorado Springs. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Glen Moore Youth Scholarship Fund through CO OES, 2495 S. Quebec St. #60, Denver, CO 80231
