Richard W. Spaeth, Jr.
July 7th, 1929 - August 7th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Richard Spaeth, age 96, passed away peacefully in Aiken, South Carolina. Born in 1929 in New York City, he lived a full and meaningful life that spanned nearly a century. His journey took him from the streets of New York City to the quiet neighborhoods of Camillus and Baldwinsville, NY, and later to New Bern, North Carolina, before settling in Aiken in his final years.
A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he spent his career working as an accountant with New York Bell Telephone, where he was respected for his dedication and work ethic.
He was first married to Helen Hacey Spaeth in 1952, his loving wife and partner until her passing in 2009. Together, they raised two sons: Richard H. Spaeth, who is married to his wife Tracy and have two sons Michael and Brian; and Robert T. Spaeth and his wife Barbette. His love for family was enduring and profound.
Later in life, he reunited and married his childhood friend Frances Geiser in 2011, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing in 2021.
Known for his quiet strength, sense of duty, and the deep love he held for those around him, he leaves behind a legacy of honor, resilience, and devotion.
A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to a veterans’ organization of your choice.
