Janice “Granny Janny” Forte

January 5, 1939 - August 11, 2025

Janice Ann Forte, lovingly known to many as “Granny Janny” passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025 at The Greeley Village in Greeley, Colorado.

Born on January 5, 1939, to Arthur and Edith Vaughn, Janice grew up in North Denver alongside her beloved older sister, Marlene Knudsen.  She met Jerry L. Forte during their years in junior high. Janice attended North Denver High School and graduated in 1957.  Janice and Jerry married on August 15, 1958, and after more than 24 years together, their marriage ended, but their bond never did. They remained very close and cared deeply for one another throughout their lives.

Janice and Jerry raised two sons, Rik Forte and Jerry (Joe) Forte. In 1969, the family moved to Greeley, Colorado where they owned and operated Jerry’s Auto Upholstery. Janice’s strong work ethic and entrepreneurial sprit led her to run several small businesses over the years, including her coffee shop called, The Daily Grind.

Known for her vibrant personality, quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to bring joy to any room, Janice was truly the life of the party. She touched countless lives with her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for her family and dozens of close friends.

Janice is survived by her soulmate Jerry L Forte, her sister Marlene Knudsen (preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Knudsen), her sons Rik Forte and Jerry Forte (wife Laurie). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Emily Kleinsasser (husband Chris) and Joseph Forte (wife Katie), as well as her two great granddaughters, Emmerson and Danika.

Granny Janny’s boundless energy, her love of bringing people together, and finding the light in everyone fortunate enough to know her, will never be forgotten. Some of her last words to her family were “Go have fun”, which is exactly how she will be remembered.
