Charlotte Bernice Burnett

Charlotte Bernice Burnett, 94, of Greeley, CO went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2012. She was born June 9, 1917 to Frank M. and Bessie Mae (Norris) Bailey. She was raised on the family homestead that her son Frank now owns. She went to school and graduated from Grover High School. In November 1935 Charlotte married Jerry C. Burnett. He passed away in August of 1982 after a wonderful 47 years of marriage where they enjoyed each other’s company in work and fun. To this union two boys were born, Frank and Jerry. She attended Prairie Center Community Church and later the Herford Community Church where she was a member. Charlotte was a wife and mother all her life. She would drive tractor, combine, truck, shovel wheat, milk a cow or whatever needed to be done and cook three meals a day for the family and whoever else may have shown up. She was active in the West Pawnee Club. She sewed and made shirts for the boys and made quilts. Jerry and Charlotte never missed a school activity or a ball game that the boys were playing in. Charlotte and Jerry took a pickup with a camper and toured the Eastern part of the United States and after Jerry had passed Charlotte took many trips with friends, touring places from Alaska to the Panama Canal. In February of 2003 Charlotte moved from the family farm that she and Jerry bought in 1946 to the Greeley Place. This is where she made many new friends that she enjoyed so much. Charlotte is survived by her two sons, Frank R. (Sherry) Burnett of Grover, CO, Jerry L. (Margaret) Burnett of Hereford, CO; grandchildren, Aimee Converse, Justine Nusz, Jeffrey Burnett and Jay R. Burnett; seven great grandchildren; nieces, Sandy Lugar and Bonnie Lou Cook; and care giver, Lois Yriarte. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry; parents; brother, Francis Bailey, sister, Helen Lugar, and infant sister, Ella Mae Bailey. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Adamson Chapel followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
