Melvin Richard "Rich" Miller
August 27th, 1934 - August 14th, 2012
Melvin Richard "Rich" Miller 77 years old passed away August 14, 2012 at his home at Snowtop Dr. on Storm Mountain just north of Drake CO from a tractor accident. Rich was born August 27, 1934 to E. E. (John) Miller and Beulah (Burr) Miller. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1953. He was involved in FFA, football and worked on the farm with his dad and brothers. He married Vivian Burgess and to this union they had three children Cindy, Christe and Rick. They later divorced then he married Shirley Groshans, they later divorced. He then married Shirley Monheiser and they have been married for 29 years. Rich went to work right out of high school for Goodell Brothers Construction and worked for them for 30 years. He worked for many highway construction companies throughout his career where he served as Superintendant on many highways projects in Denver and surrounding areas of Colorado. Among those construction companies he worked for were Siegrest, Dan Grasser, Const., Kiewit Const and several others. He retired from road construction at age of 62 then started Snowtop Construction where he remained very busy on the mountain building roads and digging foundations to help develop the community up there. He liked to hunt but his favorite activity was fishing and his favorite fishing spot was Alcova Lake at Alcova Wyoming. He took many camping trips to Alcova and was always there to catch the big one. He bought his Storm Mountain property in 1983 then moved there full time in 1996 and was very involved in the development of the community and activities on Storm Mountain. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Drake CO, his children, Cindy Lara of Casper, WY, Christe Canfield of Belle Fourche, SD, Rick (Mary) of Casper, Pat Heerman of Holyoke, CO, Paulette (Rod) Schleep of Stoneham, CO, Russell (Mary Lynn) Groshans of Eaton, CO and Mark (Staci) Monheiser of Broomfield, CO. He has 14 grandchildren, Lacey, Amber, Joe, Trapper, Jake, Myranda, Blake, Stephanie, Butch, Todd, Troy, Tish, Ty and Jamie; and 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Garry (Jodi) Miller of Gentry, AR, Bill (Anne) Miller, two sisters, Beverly (Bob) Bray, Linda Weber both of Greeley and numerous nieces and nephews. Rich is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Patsy Brooks; his brothers, Lowell, Ronny, Bud and Dale, nephews, Bobby Brooks and Steven Weber; and niece, Lori Miller. Memorial service will be held 2:00p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 950 Cleveland Avenue, Loveland, CO. Memorial donations may be made to the "Big Thompson Canyon Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
