Lt. Col. Kenneth Roy Robb, 93, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on February 25, 2013. He was born October 7, 1919 in Greeley to Roy and Myrtle (Poole) Robb. Kenneth graduated from University High in 1937. He had 23 years service as an infantry officer serving with the 3rd Infantry Division in WWII and Korea. Served 10 campaigns in the African Middle Eastern European theatre and 4 in Korea. Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge with star, Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters and the Bronze star for Valor with three Oak leaf clusters, Distinguished Unit Citation, Army Commendation Medal (two awards)French Crox D Guerre and other service awards. Col Robb taught at the Infantry school between WWII and Korea with later assignments in Hawaii with the 25th Inf Div and in Texas with the Texas Military Dist and in the Headquarters of the 4th Army Recruiting Command. Upon retirement, Dec 1960, he joined the Sales staff of the St Anthony, El Tropicana and Gunter Hotels in San Antonio, TX. In 1942 Kenneth married Gertrude Mahnken in Kimball, NE. They were happily married for 68 years and both had a passion for volunteering (Red Cross and BAMC) and owned Scenic Tours of Tejas Inc. Col Robb was active with the Lay activities of the Main Post Chapel at Ft Sam Houston. Served on several boards: Texas Hotel Motel Sales Management Assn., Fiesta Flambeau, Christian Senior Services and Wally Byam Carravan Club Texas. Kenneth moved back to Greeley in May 2011 to be closer to family. He attended Sherwood Baptist Church and was active in the men’s bible study and helped with the youth group. His legacy will be to "live your life with integrity, joy and love as you serve one another”. He never met a stranger and always wore a contagious smile. He is survived by sister Margaret Thompson and brother Gene (Shirley) Robb of Greeley. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude, parents Roy and Myrtle Robb, brother Bill Robb, sisters Mary Casseday and Joy Palmeri. Memorial service will be held 10:00AM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Sherwood Park Baptist Church, 3333 W 16th St, Greeley. Burial will be at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Sherwood Park Baptist Church, in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
