Leonard C. Borowski

Leonard C. Borowski, 83, of Greeley, CO passed away June 12, 2013 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. He was born February 4, 1930 in Ogallala, NE to Stanley and Anna (Paprocki) Borowski. He grew up in Grant, NE on the family farm and graduated from Perkins County High School. On October 4, 1952 he married Gloria Hummel in Omaha, NE. Leonard served in the United States Navy and farmed in Nebraska before moving to Greeley in 1965. He became a Real Estate Agent, working for Scott Realty and New Horizon’s, retiring in 1992. Leonard served as secretary of the Greeley Board of Realtors before becoming President in 1970. Leonard collected old marbles, old ice cream scoops and arrowheads. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping. He volunteered bagging groceries at Toddy’s and ushering at St. Mary Catholic Church. He liked polka music, dancing, and loved playing the harmonica with a comb. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Greeley Elks lodge #809 B.P.O.E., Moose Lodge, and Greeley Board of Realtors. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Leonard is survived by his wife, Gloria of Greeley; son, Dave Borowski of Aurora, CO; daughters, Janeen (Jeff) McGinn of Windsor, CO, and Jodi (Ed) Gerber of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren, Melanie McGinn of Highlands Ranch, Kyle McGinn of Westminster and Harrison Gerber of Highlands Ranch; great grandchildren, Alayna and Tasha Magill of Highlands Ranch; sister Theresa Benton of Cozen, NE; brothers, Ed Borowski of Grant, NE, Dan (Mary) Borowski of Ogallala, and Harry (Bobbi) Borowski of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Borowski; brothers, Lewellen and Melvin Borowski; and sister, Esther Otterstein. Recitation of The Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Adamson Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
