Russell "Moe" L. Mosier

Russell "Moe” Mosier, 91, of LaSalle, CO passed away January 5, 2014 in Greeley, CO. He was born May 3, 1922 in LaSalle to Chris and Hannah (Lawrence) Mosier. Moe served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USS Annapolis as a Radar man from December 1942 to October 1945. On September 26, 1948 he married Kathryn "Kitty" Ellis. For Moe farming was a huge part of his life along with breaking horses, raising livestock and sugar beets. He was awarded Top 10 sugar beet producer several times. Moe loved having family come and help him on the farm and showing them the proper way of doing jobs associated with farming. He had a great love for his horses, dogs and cattle and made sure they were all healthy and doing well by checking on them several time a day. He enjoyed restoring old vehicles, ice skating, camping, fishing ,hiking, being in the outdoors and time spent with his grandkids. Moe love traveling with family and especially going to Kauai, Hawaii to visit his nephew Michael and wife Kathleen. He and his wife "Kitty” were care givers for their son Russell after his car accident. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Mark) Jenkins of Platteville, CO; grandchildren, Stephanie (Russell) MacLennan of Bennett, CO, Angela (Adam) Turk of Greeley, Gabriel Jenkins of Denver, CO and Benjamin (Tehanie) Jenkins of Chicago, IL; and two great grandson’s, Kaden and Quinten. Moe was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn "Kitty”; son, Russell E. Mosier; his parents; stepdad, Glen Hodgell, and sister, Carol. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 and funeral service 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 both at Adamson Chapel.
