Elizabeth W. Byerly

Elizabeth Wagner "Honey” Byerly, 81 of Greeley, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at her home after enduring a 3 year battle with cancer. She fought cancer like she lived her life, with strength, courage and optimism. She was born in June 2, 1933 to Jess and Vada Fay (Long) Wagner and grew up in Durand, MI, moving to Lexington, NC at age thirteen. In the 8th grade, Elizabeth met the love of her life, Bill Byerly of Thomasville, NC. The two eloped to Chesterfield, SC on the 4th of July 1950, prior to their senior year of High School. They have shared great love and joy during their 64-year marriage, weathering life’s trials. After High School graduation, Elizabeth worked as a designer for Sherwin-Williams for many years. She mastered the roles of loving wife and mother. Elizabeth and Bill enjoyed family life in Lexington and Kernersville, NC, South Boston, VA, and Greensboro, NC, where they were long-term members of Center United Methodist Church. Lovingly referred to as "Mimi” in Colorado; Elizabeth enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, gardening, playing cards with friends and frequent trips to Blackhawk, in her words, "We are going up the Hill again.” Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Bill; one daughter, Lisa Charbonneau and husband John Charbonneau, both of Greeley; sister, Madeline Palmer of Lexington, NC; one daughter in law, Susan Lloyd Byerly of Erwin, NC; and four grandchildren, Blake and Ben Byerly of Erwin, NC, and Madeline and Jake Charbonneau of Greeley, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; Julian, sister; Nan and loving son Brooks Byerly of Erwin, NC. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held, 11:00a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO.
