Manuel Berig

Manuel Berig, 91, passed away peacefully at his home east of Gilcrest and went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2015. Manuel was born May 4, 1924 to George and Amalia (Wagner) Bierig on a farm east of LaSalle and was the youngest of nine children. He worked in agriculture his whole life and operated the family dairy for over 50 years. He had a passion for reading the Bible with his favorite verse being Psalm 23. He also worked at Monfort of Colorado, the Weld County Road and Bridge Department, and was a licensed Farm and Ranch Realtor for Wheeler Realty. Manuel is survived by his wife, Leila (Sweeney) Berig and his children, Bill (Mary Lou) Berig, Bonnie (Gary) Todd, Tom Berig all of LaSalle and Linda (Chris Garcia) Berig of Greeley along with 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents, and all his siblings, Hank, Alec, Phillip, Frieda, Elma,Jake, Molly, and Rhiney and a son, the late Randy Berig of Seattle. Viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. followed by services at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Platteville with the interment in Mizpah Cemetery and followed by a reception at the church.
