Ruth Ann Van Kempen

Ruth Ann Van Kempen November 26, 1931 �" August 19, 2008 Age: 76 Residence: Nunn, Colorado Tribute: Ruth Ann Van Kempen was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado to Harold and Evelyn (Bond) Harden. Ruth grew up on Antelope Springs Ranch, her parents place north of Nunn. Ruth contracted polio in November 1946, regaining her ability to walk after several courses of treatment. As a teenager and young woman, Ruth showed registered Angus cattle, brining home many grand championship trophies from the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado State Fair, Arizona National Livestock Show and many others. On June 10, 1962 she married David D. Van Kempen at the Nunn Presbyterian Church. Ruth and David were wheat farmers and also raised Registered Angus cattle. Ruth, mother of three, was a gifted seamstress, cook and gardener. In addition to the constant chores of farm life, she raised chickens and rabbits and provided a bountiful garden for her family. She was a member of the Nunn Presbyterian Church, Farmers Union, State Angus Association, District Angus Association, American Angus Association, and the Ladies Aide Society of Nunn. Mrs. Van Kempen died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Kenton in Greeley after and 18 month battle with Cancer. Survivors: Her husband, David Van Kempen of Nunn; sons, Eugene Van Kempen of Keizer, Oregon, Timothy Van Kempen of Carr, CO; daughter, Gail Van Kempen of Pierce, CO; grandchildren, Dawn, Rochelle and Kacey; sister, Dorothy Boston of Greeley; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Friends may visit from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue. Interment: Nunn Cemetery, Nunn. Note: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth Van Kempen memorial fund in care of Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
