John Hale Hilsabeck

John H. Hilsabeck April 18, 1917 �" March 25, 2008 Age: 90 Residence: Greeley, Colorado Tribute: John Hale Hilsabeck was born in Holdrege, NE to Hale H. and Freddie (Lundin) Hilsabeck. He grew up in Holdrege, where he graduated High School in 1934. He then started working for Western Union becoming the youngest manager/operator in the country at the age of 17. Mr. Hilsabeck went to work for AT&T in 1940, and worked there until 1959 when he went to work for Northwestern Bell retiring in 1981. From 1941-1945 he served in the US Navy and upon discharge returned to Denver and AT&T, working throughout the United States. On June 11, 1947 he married Arlene Zimmerman in Denver. They moved to Greeley in 1983. He was a Deacon at 1st United Presbyterian Church, a Mason and Shriner. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Omaha Home for Boys, Kiwanis, Highland Hills Men’s Golf Association and various Civic and Social activities. Mr. Hilsabeck died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at his residence. Survivors: His wife, Arlene Hilsabeck of Greeley; son, Hale Hilsabeck II of Lakewood; daughters, Heather Blauvelt and husband Randy of Thornton, Heidi Hilsabeck of Greeley; grandchildren, Julie, Randy, Jonathan, two great grandchildren; brothers Frank Hilsabeck and wife JoAnn of Holdrege, NE, Bruce Hilsabeck and wife Margaret and Bob Hilsabeck and wife Jean all of Lincoln, NE., and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: Parents; sisters, Barbara, Mary Ann and Katherine. Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday at Adamson West Chapel. Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Adamson West Chapel. Interment: at a later date in Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE. Note: Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado c/o Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
