Born July 2, 1927 in New Mexico died December 10, 2019 at the age of 92 John Dee Reece was much like Mr. Rodgers. He was a man who forgave with great ease. A man who brought kindness and mercy to the many people who came to him for counsel and love. He brought light and a smile into hurting places and people. Many call him "Their best friend". He walked many women down the aisle for their wedding day. He was a man of faith and a man of family. He was a fisherman and loved the rivers and right up until his 90th year he put on waders and went into the river to fly fish. It was his happy place. He loved his church and served it faithfully for over 50 years. He prayed daily for his country and he served in the Army in WWII. He graduated from CU Boulder where he got his degree in Architecture and played football and basketball. He was invited by two professional football teams (New York and Los Angeles) but smitten after meeting the love of his life Nancy (whom he married and had two children Mary Lynn and Brett) he opted for a career in Architecture instead. His work is seen all over Denver (The Federal court building, Rose Hospital and Porters, among many other clinics and hospitals in Vail and Wyoming) He and his partners started Fisher, Reece and Johnson until he retired. He traveled often and loved touring by boat in Europe and Hawaii and Alaska, road trips to Santa Fe and Taos and California and Boston and Washington DC were some of his favorites. His legacy of kindness to everyone from his neighbors to the clerks at his local stores or the Bank President will be remembered. With rare exception he never said an unkind thing about anyone. He set the bar high for all of us to remember that instead of justice we give mercy, instead of selfishness we give grace. We are reminded by his life which he sacrificed for the wishes of others, to encourage and support their wishes and to look outwardly for ways that we can be of service to others as was his example. John Dee Reece was a good man. Services will be held January 15, 2020 at Fort Logan Cemetery 303-761-0117 for time And Corona Presbyterian Church after the New Year Please call the church for more information 303-832-2297
