Suzanne Marie (Graham) Bormann
June 30th, 1933 - November 1st, 2020
Suzanne Marie Bormann passed away November 4, 2020 at the age of 87, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Sue was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 30, 1933, as the oldest child of Elmer and Jeanette Graham. She lived in White Plains, NY as a child and later Manchester, Connecticut, where she attended Manchester High School. After high school, Sue returned to NY to attend Westchester School of Nursing at Grasslands Hospital – Class of 1954 – where she served as Class President and made many life-long friends. Sue was introduced to the love of her life, Daniel Bormann, by Dan’s cousin, who was also a nursing student at Grasslands. Sue began corresponding with Dan at his cousin’s urging while he was stationed in Korea during the war. The two were married on January 14, 1956. Sue and Dan lived in White Plains early in their married life and had three children, Robert (Bob), Paul, and Carol. Summers and vacations were spent in Stony Creek, NY in the Adirondack mountains at the family homestead. In 1967, they moved to Valhalla, NY and shortly thereafter Sue resumed her nursing career at Grasslands as a surgical, operating room nurse. They remained in Valhalla until March of 1980, when they fulfilled their long-time dream of relocating to Colorado. After moving to Colorado, Sue took a hiatus from nursing to pursue her passion for sewing by becoming an instructor and sales associate at Stretch and Sew. She loved teaching sewing to beginners and enjoyed the colleagues with whom she worked. In later years, she returned to nursing as an Office Manager for the Lakewood, CO Accord Medical office. However, she continued to pursue her love of sewing and became quite involved with local quilting groups. Sue enjoyed many years in Colorado biking, cross-country skiing, and most especially RVing with Dan. The highlight was a long-planned trip through the Northwest and Canada. In later years, they spent winters RVing in Tucson, near their daughter Carol. Sue is survived by her two sisters, Sheila Shultz and MaryEllen Volscho, her children Robert (Merry), Paul (Christine), and Carol (Russell), grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Alicia, Matthew, Emily, Brendan, Joshua, and Timothy, and great grandchildren Maceo, Miles, and Meryl. She was loved by all and will be remembered as a loving and generous, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
