Moneta Anne Harmon

Moneta Anne (Kitchen) Harmon, 80, of Masonville, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Loveland following a brief illness.

Mo, as she was known, was born August 13, 1943 to Red and Toni Kitchen in Fort Collins, Colorado.  She lived in the Big Thompson Canyon with her mother, big brother and grandparents while her father was away at war.  The family moved back to Masonville when the war ended and Mo lived there until she was married.  Mo was so thankful to have grown up on the Buckhorn with family and friends that remained close throughout her life.  She attended the Masonville School until it was closed and they were transferred to Big Thompson Elementary.  She attended Loveland Jr.-Sr. High, graduating in 1961.  In 1966, she graduated from CSU with honors, earning a BS in Education.  While at CSU she was on the rodeo team, competing in barrel racing and goat tying, a hobby she and Buck continued for several years after they were married.  She taught P.E. and English at Berthoud High School until she chose to focus on raising a family. 

Mo and Clyde (Buck) Harmon were married in Masonville in 1961.  They were married almost 60 years until Buck passed away in 2021. 

Mo felt a strong calling for helping others - especially caring for family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else that crossed her path.  She was generous, strong, and unpretentious. You always knew where she stood. She lived her strong Christian faith every day and showed us what was really important in life. 

She is survived by daughter Ardan (Ron) Smith of Loveland, son Clint (Kristin) Harmon of Masonville, daughter Leona (Matt) Luce of Loveland; grandchildren Michael Smith of Evans, Clayton Harmon of Grand Junction, Cayla (Lane) Chrysler of Pierce, Tanner and Eli Luce of Loveland; great-grandchildren Gabriel, Abigail and Isaiah Smith; sister-in-law Joyce Kitchen, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ervin and Arlene Harmon; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris (Red) and Nellie (Toni) Rogers Kitchen; her husband, Buck; and her brother, Ed Kitchen, who passed away January 22, 2024.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11am at the Buckhorn Presbyterian Church in Masonville.  All are welcome to attend.  There will be a lunch reception afterwards.
