Thomas D. Brown
July 26th, 1936 - February 27th, 2024
Thomas D. Brown, 87, of Greeley, Colorado passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Grace Pointe in Greeley. He was born July 26, 1936, to James and Lillie (Hansen) Brown in Greeley. Tom grew up in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School in 1954. After working with the family dairy just out of high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1958 until 1960. On November 23, 1958, he married Marjorie Troudt in Greeley. After the service, Tom farmed and worked on his family’s dairy farm, Auburn Farm. In the early 1970’s, the family began to raise registered Suffolk sheep, Auburn Farm Suffolks. Tom would invite many 4-H clubs, FFA students and Junior College Ag students to the farm to learn more about the sheep industry, raising, showing, judging and the care for the animals. Tom loved to raise show quality sheep and traveled with them to shows including Colorado and Wyoming State fairs.
Tom was active with many things’ agriculture related and served on the Central Weld Water Conservation District Board for 40 plus years. Tom loved being a grandpa. His five grandchildren all had his special “Nicknames” and enjoyed watching them grow up around the farm. Tom had an interest in photography and was a member of The Photography Club, Shutter Bugs. Tom In his earlier years, was an avid bowler. He loved to read magazines and the daily newspapers and was a big baseball fan. The Colorado Rockies and New York Yankees were his favorites.
Tom is survived by his wife, Marjorie Brown of Greeley; his daughter, Lisa Hoffman, and husband Troy Hoffman of Kersey; his grandchildren, Aaron “Pete” Helus, Jocelyn “Joey” Hatch and husband Kyle, Michael “Mickey” Hoffman and fiancé Jaymie Podtburg, Mikayla “Rosie” Payseur and husband Hunter, and Matthew “Jimmy” Hoffman and fiancé Madi Marsh; his great-granddaughter, Rozlyn Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen Helus; and his siblings, Morris Brown, Robert Brown and Lucille Duell.
A Life Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Tom’s name to the Kersey Community Church.
