Duane Francis Meyer

Duane Francis Meyer November 30th, 1922 – December 31st, 2010 Duane Francis Meyer, 88, passed away on December 31st, 2010, in Portland, Oregon. Duane was born on November 30th, 1922 in Mt Angel, Oregon, to Thomas and Pauline Meyer. He was raised in NE Portland, and moved to Tigard, Oregon in 1953, where he lived in the same home for 52 years. Duane attended Jefferson and Grant High Schools. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served as the Electronic Technician’s Mate Second Class during operations in the Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1948 Duane married Annie E. Feldman at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon. Throughout his life Duane worked in the warehouses and sales Carpenter Offutt. He enjoyed astronomy, fossils, hunting, reading, music, and traveling. Duane was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Duane is survived by his daughter Ellen C. Hinds of Portland; sons, Matthew M. Meyer and Thomas Meyer of Portland; sisters, Christine M. Meyer of Portland, Betty Kramer of Portland; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife Annie E. Meyer, Harold H. Meyer (brother), and Edward T. Meyer (brother).
