JoAnn Arlene Means
May 28th, 1938 - August 21st, 2011
JoAnn A. Means, 73, of Beaverton, OR passed away on August 21, 2011 in Portland, OR. Mom was taken from us suddenly and way too soon. Mom was born in Blackwell, OK on May 28, 1938 to Jesse and Mary Swopes. After her father returned from WW II they relocated to Roseburg, OR. Mom attended school in Roseburg and graduated from Roseburg HS in 1956. After high school JoAnn moved to California and over the years lived there as well as Arizona and Canada in addition to Oregon. JoAnn loved travelling, bowling, dancing, and most of all meeting new people. Mom always found a way to laugh at every situation and her distinct voice put those around her at ease. JoAnn was a loving and caring person who touched the lives of many people. JoAnn is survived by her son Kevin Everidge and Daughter-In-law Denal Everidge of Beaverton, OR. Daughter Tammi Parker of Roseburg, Oregon, Sister Sherri Kimberling and Brother in-law Rod Kimberling of Oxnard, CA. Grandsons Robert Everidge of Fort Stewart, GA, Nathan Everidge of Milwaukie, OR, Dustin, Aaron and Jacob Parker of Winston, OR. Granddaughters Brianne Richart of Portland, OR, Jessica Everidge of Clackamas, OR, Christina Richart of Clackamas, OR, Great Grandchildren Connor Richart and Ryleigh Parker, Grand puppy Omar, Grand turtle, Turtle and Grand Kitty Mocha Cheese in addition to many other family members and friends. Mom will be cremated and her ashes interned with the love of her life, Monroe Everidge in Roseburg, OR. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, Sept 1st at 2 PM. It will be held at the Beaverton Christian Church located at 13600 SW Allen Blvd in Beaverton, OR with refreshments following at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Elsie Stuhr Senior Center in Beaverton. She loved the center and met so many wonderful people there. She lovingly called it Gramma Daycare and it will forever be known as that to her family. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” Don't Grieve For Me For Now I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seems all to brief; Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. Arrangements by Autumn Funerals, Cremation & Burial, Tigard, Oregon.
