Keith E.Phillips

Keith Edward Phillips, of North Bend, Oregon, 79, passed away February 17, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. He was born December 7, 1936, to Ruth Ida (Crawford) and Floyd H. Phillips in Great Falls, MT. Keith attended Willamette University, graduating with a B.S., 1960 from University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA. He married Barbara W. Brooks in 1956. They were married 37 years, and raised two children together. He had a long-time career as general manager for Dun and Bradstreet in various locations, including Portland, OR. He also worked as an executive recruiter and eventually established his own recruiting business in the Portland area. In 1992, Keith moved to Vashon Island, Washington to be with Andrea Wall and her two sons, David and Chad. Later Keith and Andrea moved to North Bend, Oregon to be closer to family. Keith was an accomplished vegetable and flower gardener. The landscaping at his home was always beautiful, especially his rose gardens. He also enjoyed fishing, wood working, and sports. He had been a member of Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, and Aero Club of Portland. He was a larger than life kind of man, wise, gregarious, and a bit cantankerous. Keith will be remembered by longtime companion, Andrea Wall, his children Jeff (Joanie) Phillips of Hillsboro and Ruth Ellen (Pat) Melton of North Bend, their mother, Barbara Phillips of Portland, grandchildren Katherine, Ryan, C.J. and Ethan; nephews Bruce and Floyd; nieces, Lisa and Wendy. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Ellen Snyder Powell, stepmother Cecelia Phillips, and stepsister Nancy Beggs. He also leaves behind friends and other family who will miss his unique charm. A family and friends barbeque will be held this summer to celebrate his life. Remembrances may be made to Coos County Community Concerts, or to the “Penny Lady” at North Bend, Oregon Bi-mart. His expressions of strength and humor will remain in those that knew him.
