Larry Elliott Keil
June 8th, 1939 - July 17th, 2018
Lary Elliott Keil was born in Oregon City, Oregon on June 8, 1939 to Leo Henry Keil and Lolita Gertrude Hornig Keil. He lived in Oregon all of his life being raised at Union Hill, currently located at the Charbonneau Exit on Interstate 5 near Wilsonville, Oregon. Larry attended and Graduated from Canby Grade School in 1953, and Canby High School in 1957. Larry married Lois Marie Syverson September 20,1963. They had two children, Michael Elliott Keil and Lee Richard Keil. They were divorced in December 1976. He remarried in August 1977 to Sarah Ellen Horton and acquired two step-daughters. Larry had many different jobs during his lifetime. He began as an airplane mechanic for Boeing before enlisting in the Army. He was stationed near Stuttgart, Germany where some of his relatives lived. After his enlistment was over he came back home and went to work in the transportation industry. In 1980 Larry began work full time with the Oregon Army National Guard. In 1982 he received an Award for Outstanding Soldier of the Year. During his 24 Years of military service he received many Awards, Decorations, Campaign and Service, and Military Badges. For several years he was Commander of the Canby Police Reserve Unit, then Hubbard Police Reserve Commander and then worked for Clackamas County Sheriff Reserve. At different times during his life he was a member of Order of DeMolay, past President of Canby Jaycees, Charter Member of Canby Barber Shop Quartet Singing of America, and Canby Internal Order of Odd Fellows, Transportation Associations, American Legion, American Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disable American Veterans and the Oregon State Defense Force. Larry passed peacefully on July 17, 2018 at Oregon Veterans Home in Lebanon, Oregon. The family commends and thanks the staff of Delta 2 for the wonderful care they gave Larry during the last years of his life. Larry is survived by his wife, Sarah Keil, sons, Michael Keil of Canby, and Lee Keil (Erica) of Portland, step-daughters, Donna Lynn Lenocker (Glen) of Salem, and Deborah Weishaar (Wayne) of Silverdale, Washington, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and brothers Elwin Keil and Raymond Keil of Portland,.
