Korts father Lloyd Patterson preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Janice Patterson, sister, Kallan Dee Elias and brother Criag Patterson. He grew up in Naperville, Illinois moving to Oregon in late 1973 and making his home here. Kort was a High School Graduate of Naperville Central. Kort Patterson had peacefully passed away at Providence Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Family and friends are missing him terribly. (Lynda Hoffman- Snodgras). It is often said of people, upon their passing, that they were "unique" individuals. Maybe a few of them even really are. Kort Patterson would be in that latter category. Kort was an exceptionally bright individual, having qualified for the two largest high-IQ associations in the world; Mensa, which accepts those with 98th-percentile or higher scores, and Intertel, whose criterion is the 99th percentile, or top one percent of I.Q. scores. He was also unquestionably a renaissance man; an autodidact of high degree - self-taught in a variety of complex disciplines, including the manufacture of parachutes, wide-ranging elements of biochemistry, and complexly-networked computer systems. Kort was a person who gave of himself in large measure. He served Intertel, in particular, for many decades, as editor of the regional newsletter, Regional Director and Executive Board member, and finally, President, re-elected to multiple terms. Kort provided the computer host platforms for virtually all of Intertel's information technology, including websites, member databases, and specialty discussion group systems. He kept all of these maintained and graciously fielded queries from the less-IT-knowledgeable members of the group. Kort made contributions to the well-being of Intertel, overall, that will probably never be equaled. All who knew Kort are missing him terribly. It may be that Intertel will miss him the most of all. (Brewster Gillett) Kort and Craig helped build several boats with our Father. A speed boat, our first Houseboat and the remodeled faster version, I believe this row boat was the first effort. Our father later designed and built his retirement vessel, the Janibelle, which I helped on One Ton of hand packed cement into the ribs; to this day I love sculpting in clay. (Kort was married to Terry for a few years and they lived on a farm. I think he met Terry through sky diving here in Oregon - Lynda) Kort and Terry lived in Sheridan Oregon and used this to clear the land upgraded from the Red tractor of youth. Kort owned many interesting vehicles in his lifetime. He had a Bus along the side of house, which was a working machine shop. He renovated a bus into an RV. Kort also owned 3 Alpine sports cars which he made one working model out of. He had a Triumph motorcycle which he crashed at high speed and realized the value of helmets. He had an old black hearse that he put a bed in. His last vehicle is still running which he has had it for 27years, a VW fox. He bought a logging truck, took the log supports off and welding a flatbed on the back. Then he welded up some ramps and he could load this cat onto the back of the truck. He would take the cat to different locations to cut in new roads and other earth moving jobs. He did his entire arc welding with a portable arc welder that ran off of the power take off of an old Oliver farm tractor he had. He made the mounting brackets and machined up the flywheel and pulley so he would have the correct rpms. He never ceased to amaze me. Kort loved to water ski behind Lazy Bones. Craig remembers Kort would ski the entire trip from Sabula Iowa to the Savanah Island where we spent weekends. Kort water skied, swam, and was a scuba diver. He also sky dived and designed and created his own jumpsuits for freefalls that increased the drag so he could enjoy it longer. He took me out to watch him when he still lived in Illinois. Kort also played the accordion. (KALLAN ELIAS). Kort was active with Voter Power in the Portland area and helped them set up a secure computer system. Kort named his business "Overall Tech" and wore his signature overall's every day. (He had fancy pin striped overalls for special occasions.) He had a love for sky diving, fixing engines, guns, problem solving by creating machines, writing stories also novels, scuba diving and cats. He was one of few people in my life who has always been there. He was a few years older than me. We had wild times as kids running in the woods and playing in the Chicago area. My family moved west in 1964 and I think it was around 1973 that Kort came out to live in Oregon. He was brilliant! I will forever hold Kort in my heart, missing him already." - Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass. This is how he came about his company’s name overalltech. I met Kort in 1993, ever since then computers were the topic for us. He was good friend and was extended family to me through marriage. He was a great teacher and a great person to work with. Kort built many servers for our company and other company some that ran from his office which where maintained by him. Kort and I did many projects networking windows Pc to Linux servers. Kort had a cat called Glich and after it passed away he got Jack which was his friend that was always there. Jack is doing well living with my family and our other cat Panda. Jack is the sweetest cat we know. Saying goes animals mirror there owners Jack is the example of Kort, who was a very kind and sweet man. Kort lived his life the way he wanted on his terms went out the same way. We have a challenge to make sure Panda and Jack get along. I miss him a lot. It was very hard for me to see Kort pass away and I can’t stop thinking how quick it happened. Korts’ ashes were sent to his Mom Janice and Kallan sister to his birth place in Illinois. As I was told by his sister they will do something in the summer with family. (Shaheed Mohammed). We all will miss our greatly family, friend and his business associate (Mom- Janice, Dad- Lloyd Patterson) Sister (Kallan) Brother (Craig Patterson. Cousin (Clay, Byran and Lynda Hoffman) Nephews (Karl, Alex, Karna Hoffman). Friend’s Shaheed, Pari, Monirah , Lili Mahin, Ron Sarmadi, Payam damgani Mary damgani ,Ken Cox , Lau Lau keay, Linda Woodhead, Brewster Gilett, Bow ,John Saje, Sarah Wilson . All business associated.
