Obituary Col. William (Bill) Arthur Fowles Ret. (92), passed away on October 10, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill was born on April 12, 1925 in Denver, Colorado. His military service included 32 years of service as a pilot in the Air Force and Iowa Air National Guard. In addition to love of family and country, he enjoyed a passion for flying. Bill graduated from Drake University where he met Beryl Short, who would become his wife and the love of his life. He was an executive VP for General United Life Insurance Company in Des Moines and enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry. Bill will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Beryl, his children and grandchildren: Debra (Dennis) Chalik; Patricia (Jon) Huppenthal; and Robert (Julie) Fowles; Tim Chalik, grandson; Amy (Greg) Young, granddaughter; Peter Chalik, grandson, and Grant Young, great grandson. A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held at 2 pm at Liberty Heights, 12105 Ambassador Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Disabled American Veterans.
