John Black Jr.

John Lee Black November 16th, 1968-April 20th, 2018 It is with deep sorrow to announce the sudden passing of John Lee Black due to illness. John attended Roy J. Wasson H.S., Colorado Springs, CO and graduated in 1987. John began his 20 plus years career with Club Med Copper Mountain and Crested Butte Colorado and trained to be a chef. John was Chef for President Carter for 3 years in Crested Butte when President Carter would visit the Carter Center. He trained all over the world and became Chef de Cuisine in charge of many restaurants for Club Med. He worked in Australia, France, Mexico, Thailand, Japan, the Caribbean Islands and the Dominican Republic. He also became Executive Chef for Lifestyles Resorts also in the Dominican Republic. His work was recognized in several Culinary Magazines. John returned home to Colorado Springs and was working at Patty Jewett Golf Course at the time of his passing. John loved to travel with his dear friend Frances Ber going to countries such as Chili, Argentina, and Antarctica. John will be missed by his friends and colleagues from all over the world. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone for all of the thoughts, prayers and kindness shown to their son. Services for John L. Black will be held on Monday, April 30th, 2018,Rosary at 9:30 and Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 N. Logan, Colorado Springs, Co. with reception to follow.
