Obituary SFC (R) Edward R. Homeyer was a member of the elite Special Forces Group, a Green Beret, assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Carson, CO, as an SF Engineer Sergeant. He ended his Army career as an instructor at the Special Forces Sniper Course (SFSC), assigned to the 1st Special Warfare Training Group at Fort Bragg, NC, where he distinguished himself by finishing first place in the 2010 international sniper competition. SFC (R) Homeyer's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal (with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters), Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge, Special Operations Diver Badge, German Armed Forces Parachutist Badge (Bronze), Belgian Armed Forces Parachutist Badge, and the Royal Netherlands Army Parachutist Badge. Ed died January 22, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born September 29, 1972 in Santa Paula, CA. He is survived by his parents, Reese Homeyer and Bethany (Mann) Homeyer. He is also survived by his wife, Jana (Mancuso) Homeyer; sister, Tammie and husband, Tracy Shelton; brothers, Reese Homeyer, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, Cary Homeyer and his wife Gwen, and Jeffrey Homeyer and his wife, Tina; grandmother, Dorothy Myracle; 2 sons; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends.
