Michael 'Mike' Chavez
May 3rd, 1936 - December 13th, 2019
Michael Anthony Chavez, Sr, died December 13, 2019 in Colorado Springs. He was born in Trinidad, CO on May 3, 1936 to Flora (Baca) & Secundino Chavez. Mike married the true love of his life and they moved to Pueblo, where he worked as a cook at the Bus Depot and started their family. In 1960 they moved to Colorado Springs so he could work at the USAFA, first in the Mess Hall, then became a Civil Service Electrician. He retired after 33 years with them in 1993, having a memorable retirement party in the Old Train Depot in downtown Colorado Springs, now The Depo Event Center, after having been the Giuseppes Old Depo restaurant. He loved to go fishing and watch football, The Broncos, and cherished his family time with his grandchildren. More so, he was a very devoted husband, listening to Imogenes music and taking her wherever she wanted to go. They ended up in New Mexico quite often, and Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and Las Vegas. Mike is survived by his children and their spouses, Michael & Christina Chavez, Richard Chavez, Patricia & Leilon Guerrero, Donna Chavez and JoAnn Villarreal; grandchildren, Valerie, Maria, Melissa, Kimberly, Yolanda, Samantha, Rosa, Justina, Amber, Kayla, Juan and Arianna; great grandchildren, David, Marquis, Lorenzo, Catalina, Karina, Azyana, Adrian, Anicyia, Marianna, Anita, Paul Jr., Ernesto, Josiah, Braeden, Kaleena, Amyas, Jace, Rylan, Gabriel, Santiago, Leilani, Ruben, Nathaniel, Dominic, Eva, Ema, Romeo and Imannie; and in-laws, MaryAnne & Dennis Anaya and Leroy & Ada Trujillo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Cathy Chavez Lovato; granddaughters, Yvonne Lovato and Teresa Armenta; siblings, Genevieve Silva, Dave Chavez and Frank Chavez. But he is together again with the love of his life, Imogene, only having to be separated for 3 months. You are using an outdated web browser that does not support this video.
