Robert Wright
March 8th, 1924 - November 17th, 2015
Obituary On the evening of November 17th, after a short, courageous battle with cancer, Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Bob Wright was born in Cloud County, Kansas March 8, 1924. The second son born of Walter and Amy Wright. Bob lost his mother at the early age of eight. Bob grew up on a farm outside of Concordia Kansas. In May 1944 Bob volunteered in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Muliphen. In addition served as a coxswain, operated an amphibious landing craft and saw action in the Pacific Maryannas, Salomon Islands, in the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa. In October 13, 1945 he landed trooped in Tokyo Bay in occupied Japan. He was honorably discharged April 1946. After returning from the war Bob met and married Bonnie Livengood on September 17, 1946. Worked locally in Concordia, Kansas until they moved with their two children to Colorado Springs, Colorado in September 1957. His first job in Colorado Springs was working on the construction of Air Force Academy Cadet Dining Hall. Having served in the military he was very proud to have been a part of this project. His next and longest job started working for Town Talk Bakery, where he was a salesman. In the early 70's Town Talk became Star Bread where he was the Sales Manager. Finally retired after working for Widefield School District for three years. Bob loved elk hunting and was an avid fisherman, he also loved his grandkids, great grand kids and his dogs. Followed closely by watching the Broncos and any sporting events .he could never spend enough time tending his flowers, yard and garden. A devout World War II veteran and family man. Papa will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bonnie; son, David (Kathy); daughter, Kevin (Chip) Richards; grandchildren, Amy (Derek) Wooldridge, Travis (Shannon) Wright; granddaughter-in-law, Nikki; and great grandchildren, Conagher, Rieley, Noah, Hayden and Kaiden. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Brenton Lee Wright. The family will be having a Celebration of his Life on Friday November 27th from 3pm-8pm at Cheyenne Mountain Post 3917 VFW, 4715 Clearview Drive, Security, Colorado 80911.
