Eiko Yamashita PolitzAug. 30, 1925 - Dec. 31, 2023Eiko Politz passed away peacefully at the age of 98, at Holladay Park Plaza where she had lived for more than a decade. She was born and raised in Tokyo to Naoji and Nami Yamashita, the fifth of six children. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Tokyo Woman's Christian University. She then came to the United States to study at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Later she earned a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Denver. She met Charles Politz, a graphic designer, and they were married in 1966 until he died in 1997. She and Charles settled in Portland and she worked for the State of Oregon Child and Family Services Department for many years.Eiko was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Politz; her brothers, Ko and Ken; and her sisters, Tadako, Yoko, and Ryuko. She is survived by two nieces.Eiko was blessed with many rich friendships. She traveled extensively and made friends everywhere; in her neighborhoods, at work and in the arts community, where she was very active.In lieu of flowers, go out, have fun, support the arts!
