Doloris Anderson
December 8th, 1941 - November 6th, 2017
Obituary Doloris Martha Anderson was born December 8, 1941, in Colorado Springs, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Doloris went to be with her Lord on November 6, 2017, while surrounded by loved ones at her home. Doloris is survived by her husband Lauren 'Sonny' Anderson, son Brian Dale Anderson (Chris Ann Flohr), daughter Teresa Marie Kelsh (Eric Kelsh), granddaughter Madison Kelsh; sister-in-law Patricia Schranz (Randall Schranz), brother-in-law Gary Anderson, and several nieces, nephews, and their children. Doloris was preceded in death by an infant daughter Ronda; her parents; her siblings; father-in-law 'Bud' Anderson, mothers-in-law Marie Anderson and Fran Anderson, sisters-in-law Dee Olson and Dorie Johnsen, brother-in-law Walt Olson. One of three children of Henry and Eleanor (Piltz) Baber, a third generation Coloradoan, and born on the Westside, Doloris attended Colorado Springs High School (later Palmer) and met Sonny at the roller skating rink on Colorado Avenue. They married a couple of years later at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and Doloris was welcomed into the Anderson family whom she cherished. Doloris was known as a family caregiver, dog lover, and maintained the kids, and household, staying two steps ahead and in charge! While managing the motorcycle racing for Sonny and Brian, she kept their jobs, school, and racing all coordinated. At the track, she was tidy and organized, even earning her own trophy for the cleanest pits! She and Sonny enjoyed dancing and the Dusters get-togethers. As a helper in the school library, and a Girl Scout leader, she kept up with Brian and Teresa and always stayed busy. As Sonny's personal secretary and for the motorcycle riders of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, she was on the phone with riders across the country and around the world to help get them to Colorado Springs and to the top of America's Mountain. Doloris was an inspiration and support for Teresa, attending every event, every meeting, especially in Teresa's high school student government years. When Teresa moved to New Mexico, and became a mother herself, it was a special bond shared with daily prayers and guidance, silly stories and the joys of having a granddaughter. Her pride and joys included her puppies, her kids, and her face glowed at the accomplishments and escapades of her one and only granddaughter Madison. The Querida neighborhood that she enjoyed for 55 years will sorely miss Doloris. She loved watching out for all the families and pets on the street. A good neighborhood is hard to find, and she dearly loved hers. A devout woman, her faith has sustained her through life's hardships and joys, and now He has called her home. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 18th at 2:00pm at Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 East Fillmore Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. In lieu of flowers, Doloris requested gifts be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region or the Don E. Bruner Memorial History Scholarship Endowment www.unco.edu/give A gathering place for conversation after the service will be at Tap Traders, 3104 North Nevada, 80907 Services Cappadona Funeral Home 1020 E Fillmore St Colorado Springs, CO 80907
