Delores Mae Strain
December 16th, 1936 - September 15th, 2019
Delores Mae (Schaefer) Strain passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 after a three-month struggle with a recently discovered heart condition. Born in December 16, 1936 and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota, Delores graduated from Rapid City High School in 1954. After attaining her associate degree, she enjoyed her work as a medical technician at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Delores married Everett Leroy Strain (Roy) in 1957, and they looked forward to starting a family. In time, they were blessed with the adoption of three children: Robert Derrick, Sheryl Lynn and Michael Scott. Raising her family was a priority to Delores and she was a wonderful, devoted wife and mother. Once her children were grown, she made the decision to go back to school and study computer, after which, she enjoyed a highly successful 'second act' as a personal assistant and secretary for many years. Delores loved to travel and was always up for an adventure (but make sure you gave her time to plan for it!) She was a remarkable seamstress and her needlepoint work was flawless, she made amazing caramel rolls and readily laughed at a joke - even a bad one. Delores was well liked by all who knew her and well loved by those who knew her best. She was a week shy of celebrating her 62nd wedding anniversary to the love of her life when God called her home. She will be profoundly missed and forever cherished. Preceding Delores in death were her parents, Edgar and Ardena Schaefer, sister Caroline Gidlow, sister-in-law Christine Schaefer, and brothers-in-law, Bernie Biberdof and Len Gidlow. Delores is survived by her husband Roy Strain, her son Robert Strain (Singapore) her daughter Sheryl and son-in-law Nico Corbijn (Weston FL,) and her son Michael and daughter-in-law Brenda Strain (Marcy NY). She is also survived by grandsons Alec and Ethan Crobijn, and Connor J. Strain Burns, and granddaughters, Melina Corbijn and Emma Strain. Surviving siblings include her brother Harvey Schaefer (Colorado Springs) and her sister Marcene Biberdof (Fishers IN), along with their children and nieces and nephews).
