Memorial

Obituary Robert Lloyd Bostick passed peacefully on March 11, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO after a fall that left him paralyzed and in a coma. He was born March 2, 1960 in Austin, TX, to Arline Hudson and Jack Travis Bostick. In 1963, he moved to Montgomery, AL with his mother and step-father, David Roddy. After three years of AF Junior ROTC, Robert graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. An industrious young man, he worked various jobs while continuing his education at John M Patterson State Technical College near Montgomery. At the age of 26, he joined the Air Force and went to San Antonio, TX for his basic training. Upon completion of basic, he transferred to Biloxi, MS, to attend technical school and graduated second in his class. He then moved to the beautiful State of Colorado, and was stationed at the USAFA. After eight years of active duty, he separated from the Air Force, and stayed in Colorado Springs. He went to work for Swan-Law Funeral Home, but did leave for a couple of years to complete the mortuary education needed for this industry. After graduating from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, he returned to Colorado Springs to resume his employment with Swan-Law. Around this time, he decided to serve further in the Air Force and enlisted in the Air Force Reserve. He later was employed by Cappadona Funeral Home. Roberts list of military accomplishments include selection as Military Supervisor of the year for 1997 by Air Force Reserve Command, Peterson AFB Airman of the Year for 1995, and 10th Air Forces Air Force Man of the Year for 1996, the latter earning him nomination as one of the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 1996. He was the first ever Reservist to be assigned as an Honor Guard member at Peterson AFB. He served deployments to Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kuwait. His military decorations include three Meritorious Service Medals and two Air Force Commendation Medals. Master Sergeant Bostick retired honorably with 22 years of service. Robert never knew a stranger and made friends easily. He was a very respectable, professional and generous man. His many friends will miss him dearly. He is survived by his mother, (Eula) Arline (Hudson) Roddy-Kennedy; a brother, Ronald Delton Roddy; a niece, Amberley and her husband, Steve Campbell and their son, Jaxon; his father, Jack Bostick and his step-father, David Roddy; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alma O. and L.D. Ross. His Memorial service will be on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 6:00 pm. At Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 E.
