Memorial Service will be held on Friday December 6, 2019 at 11:00 am at Canby Funeral Chapel. James Alfred Adamson was born January 26, 1944 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to Robert J and Evelyn M (Kelly) Adamson. Jim passed away in Canby on Veterans Day, November 11, 2019, after years of battling the effects of COPD. Jim immigrated with his family to the U.S. in 1949. He was raised in NE Portland, was active in Boy Scouts, and attended Beaumont Elementary and Benson Polytechnic. After the family moved to Milwaukie, he also attended Milwaukie High. Jim joined the Army and married Vicki Y Mortensen in 1965. While he was serving in Viet Nam his son, Brent joined his sister Traci in the new family. Vicki and Jim have lived in Canby, Oregon since he returned from Nam. Over the years he’s worked in trucking in many capacities, as an independent hauler for Gordon Fast Freight and Morgan Distributing. Later he was a warehouse manager for Caruso Produce and United Salad. He was proud to be an American veteran and belonged to the Canby American Legion. The family leisure time was spent at the family cabin in Three Rivers, fishing and boating in his beloved Lake Billy Chinook. Jim leaves his wife Vicki, son Brent, both of Canby; daughter, Traci (Byron) Sullivan, grandsons, Logan and Cade of West Linn; sister Wendy (Scott) Washburn of West Linn; Mother-in-law Gladys (Plymate) Mortensen of Canby; and many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanne. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday December 6th at 11 am at the Canby Funeral Chapel, 160 S Grant Street, Canby, Or. Internment at Zion Memorial. Donations may be made to the Canby Kiwanis Foundation
