Lynda Faye Bissell
January 27th, 1947 - December 21st, 2023
Lynda Faye Bissell was born January 27, 1947 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Faye was the oldest daughter of Ernest Levi McCardle and Georgia Ann Pitts. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William “Bill” Bissell of Salem, Oregon. She met Bill on a blind date while nannying in Huntsville, Alabama for her older half-brother. One year later they married in 1968. Bill and Faye spent a few years in Saudi Arabia, where their oldest daughter was born. They traveled extensively during that time visiting Lebanon, India, Turkey, Hong Kong, Greece, Thailand and several islands in the Aegean Sea. In 1972, Faye returned to the states a few months before Bill (who arrived two days after the birth of their second daughter) and made their home in Ovett, Mississippi. The family moved to Louisiana in 1981, where she fell in love with Cajun cooking. After many years in Louisiana, the family once again relocated, this time to the west coast (Bakersfield, California) to be near Bill’s mom, Edith. Faye lovingly took care of Edith for many years until her death. Faye found her way to the Pacific Northwest, after visiting her daughter and falling in love with Oregon in 2012. Bill joined her in 2013 after he retired from Aera Energy. Faye held a variety of jobs over the years, the most notable being a hot-shot driver in the oil fields of Louisiana. Faye never met a stranger. You could always count on a warm meal if you were in her home. She was an amazing cook with southern and cajun roots. She was a rock of support for her family and friends, helping many over the years. Opening her home to many over the years, she was a second mom to most. Faye enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her bible and watching old westerns. She is also survived by her loving children, daughter Jan Torres and her husband Fernando of Salem, Oregon; Jeannie Winn and her husband Michael of Beaverton, Oregon; and Markham Bissell of Salem Oregon; her sister Caffie McCardle of Salem, Oregon and brothers George McCardle of New Augusta, Mississippi and Dean McCardle of Janice, Mississippi; She was mawmaw to eight grandchildren: Taylor, Connor, Gabriel, Cole, Makenzie, Claire, Annaya, and Josiah and 3 great-grandchildren: Xavier, Autumn and Adrian.
