Melvin Romero

Melvin Romero, age 79, passed away on May 11, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital, Wheatridge, Colorado. He was born on July 4, 1941, in Trinidad, Colorado, son of the late Julian Romero and Celeniz (Madrid) Romero. Melvin lived in Colorado and California before returning to Pueblo to raise his and Angelina's sons. Melvin was a talented musician who was active in singing with the church choir and playing his guitar for weddings and other events. His music uplifted him and was a piece of his life that fulfilled him. Melvin shared his love of music with his sons as one of them followed in his footsteps. He was proud of the men his sons came to be and thankful for the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren he was surrounded by as they grew up. Surviving are his loving siblings, Judy and Tony Montoya, and Elaine Romero; three sons, Melvin Patrick Romero, Curtis Romero, and Daniel and Marlena Romero; grandchildren, Alicia Romero, Melanie and Phil Valdez, Marissa Martinez, Rachael Crannell, Gabriela Romero, Vivienne Romero, and Hayden Romero; great-grandchildren, Heston Proctor, Mia Proctor, DJ Boston, Olivia Valdez, Isabella Valdez, and Mason Valdez; great-great-grandson, Ivan Proctor (18 months); several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Betty Romero. Celebration of Life for Mr. Romero will be held on Friday, June 4th, from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Romero Family Funeral Home, 1805 S. Sheridan Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80232.
