Shirley Beamer
December 12th, 1947 - September 5th, 2012
Shirley Ortega Beamer, 64, of La Jara, CO. Lost her battle with cancer on Sept. 5, 2012. Shirley was born in Alamosa, CO on December 12, 1947 to Claudio Ortega & Clara Avila. She was the youngest of 7 children. She worked as a loan officer at Rio Grande County Bank and worked for many non profit agencies in the San Luis Valley. She moved to Nebraska in 1989 and worked as an economic developer. She was honored by two Nebraska Governor??s for her work achieved. She was appointed to Nebraska Rule Development Commission. Shirley moved to Denver in 1992, where she met and married Bill Beamer. Shirley enjoyed spending time studying the bible and following her faith. She spent a majority of her time with her sister Rita over the course of her life. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking and traveling. Shirley is survived by sisters, Rita Ortega of Aurora, CO; Silveria Ortega of SLC, Utah; brother, Ernest Ortega of Hayward, CA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Beamer; her parents, Claudio and Clara Ortega; brother, Steve Ortega of Fremont, CA; sisters, Helen Maldonado of Hayward, CA and Lena Jaime of Oakland, CA. Visitation, 12-2pm with Funeral Service at 2pm Monday 9/10/12 at Romero Funeral Chapel, Denver, CO. Visitation, 9-11am with Funeral Service, 11am Wednesday 9/12/12 at Romero Chapel, Alamosa, CO. Burial to follow at Alamosa Cemetery.
