Memorial

In Loving Memory Ronald Nuanez May 13, 1942 - October 26, 2021 Ron was born in Denver, Colorado to Henry Nuanez and Eva (Trujillo) Nuanez. He graduated from North High School in 1960. On July 27, 1963, he married the love of his life, Gloria Jean. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Jean Nuanez, his parents Henry and Eva; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Ron is survived by his children, Ronald, James (Sabrina), Letitia (Mike), Paul and Felicia; his (15) grandchildren Tysha (Ray), Darian, Briana (Jon), Jordan, Krystle, Paul, Brandon, Holly (Alex), Amber, Jalen, Enrique, Dylan, Alyssa, De'Angelo, and Vinny; his (6) great grandchildren Olivia, Noa, Aziel, Janessa, Christian, and Gracie.; his son in law Ramon; his siblings Jerry (Stella), Renee Sanchez (Ed ), Antonio (Rebecca), and Dale (Isabel) ; his Aunts Rosie and Viola, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ron was a faithful servant to our Lord, who participated in weekly mass as a lecturer and Eucharistic Minister at Assumption Catholic Church. Ron was a loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather who always protected his family. Ron was born and raised in the Northside of Denver. He attended Bryant-Webster Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High, and North High School. He graduated in 1960 from North. He was a sharp dresser, who was often compared to Elvis Presley because of his looks. He was passionate about looking after his younger brothers and sister and helping his parents. He started working at a young age delivering newspapers. After high school, he worked as a janitor, then in a welding shop, and for several years as a crane operator at Colorado Builders Supply Company (CBSCO). While he was working at CBSCO, he studied and trained without pay for several months in order to be hired on with the United States Postal Service (USPS). He succeeded and worked as a mail clerk with the USPS for 30 years until he retired in 2002. It was in 1961 that Ron met the love of his life Gloria Jean. They dated for a little over a year until they were engaged. On July 27, 1963, they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They started their lives together buying a home in Commerce City. They had their first four children Ron, James, Letitia, and Paul while living there. Shortly after Paul was born, they moved to Denver where their last child Felicia was born. At this time, Ron started working for the U.S Postal Service as a mail clerk. He worked every overtime shift that he could to earn a little extra. When Ron would get a good paycheck, he enjoyed treating his family to a nice dinner. His favorite place to take them was Black Angus Steakhouse. It was a blessing for him to take his family and all be able to sit together around one big table to share stories, eat, and laugh. It was also a wonderful break for his wife from the normal everyday cooking and cleaning routine. He loved to be able to provide these special occasions to his family. Ron's favorite place was in nature. He shared his love for God's country with his family every chance he could. He took them on road trips, camping, hiking, and hunting. The adventures started out in dad's Gran Torino where the kids would sleep in the long back window of the car. They advanced to his red pick-up truck with a shell on the back as their "home away from home." Dad fabricated a bunk bed, for two levels of sleeping area to house all seven in the family. Years later, they bought a fifth wheel trailer that was total luxury compared to their humble beginnings. Dad loved going hiking, especially to Brainard Lake. The hikes were tough but they were well worth the reward of reaching the top and taking in the scenic view for miles on end. We learned the lesson of perseverance along the way. He was a true hero on more than one occasion during these hiking trips. He was always in the right place saving someone, whether it be the guide leading us away from falling through the snow pack, the hand grabbing our shirt from behind when we got a little light headed from the altitude at the top of the mountain, or falling into a stream or river. These camping trips and road trips were an exploration throughout Colorado, to Las Vegas or "Lost wages'' as Dad would call it , and throughout the Southwest. Dad and Mom were able to take two cruises. An anniversary trip on a West Coast cruise and a trip with Ron, his kids, Holly and Dylan, and Krystle on an East coast Caribbean cruise. Hunting season was an annual event for Dad, Uncle Tony, Jim, and Paul. On different hunting trips they had special guests joining them including Ron, Ramon, Mark, Scott, Rick, and even Uncle Jerry! While they loaded up for the trip, Mom, Grandma Eva, and Aunt Rebecca packed them with food for the week that actually could feed them for a month. It never got old hearing his stories about all the hunting trips. When he got older and could not go any more, his grandkids, Krystle, Paulie, Enrique, De'Angelo, and Vinny carried on the tradition, returning back to share their stories with him. He left a wonderful legacy for them! Ron also had a passion for sports. He always watched and cheered (in his own special way) on his favorite teams the Denver Broncos and Rockies. He played sports too. He played softball, volleyball, and bowled until his late 40's. In 1986, Ron and Gloria became first time Grandparents to Tysha. It was as if they were born to be in this role. They loved their grandchildren dearly. Every holiday they had a wonderful treat for their Grandkids. Grandpa was always seen holding one of the grandkids when they were smaller and he was involved in the grandchildren's well-being by bathing them in the kitchen sink, playing with them on the living room floor, "Rarrrring"in their ears, and calling "Safety Blitz". When Ron retired in 2002, he started a new regimen joining the Commerce City Recreation Center to workout. After Mom's health began to decline, he turned his focus to helping care for her. Ron had a unique way of interacting with everyone and always had a story to share. We can still hear his deep voice answering the phone with, "you rang." When it was time to say good-bye, he would say, "See you later Alligator" and wait for the appropriate reply. Dad, those last days were tough but very special and beautiful knowing we were able to care for you at the house and spend those final days with you. We took care of you just like you and Mom took care of us! We followed your example to be strong, courageous, faithful, loving, and compassionate. Our faith got us through! We know you felt our love as the whole experience also touched our hearts. We will miss you always and forever but through our faith, we know we will see you and Mom again! After while Crocodile! Sleep with the Angels. Duerme con los Angelitos. The Family of Ron Nuanez would like to thank all the family, friends, work family, the healthcare workers at North Suburban Hospital, The Center at Northridge, and especially Gateway Hospice for helping us get through this most difficult time. ❤️ Previous Events Prayer of the Rosary NOV 11. 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (MT) Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary 2341 East 78th Ave. Denver, CO 80229 Loading map Visitation & Viewing NOV 12. 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (MT) Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary 2341 East 78th Ave. Denver, CO 80229 Loading map Catholic Mass NOV 12. 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (MT) Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary 2341 East 78th Ave. Denver, CO 80229 Loading map
