Laura Shortridge

Laura Shortridge Laura Ruth Shortridge, 51, from Eugene, Oregon passed away in her sleep Wednesday, December 21st. She was the beloved mother of Joachim Jacobs of Portland, Oregon, son of Jeff Jacobs. Laura was the daughter of Dr. Charles and Susan Shortridge of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. She is survived by her sisters, Lisa Shortridge of Eugene, Oregon, and Amy Shortridge Nolan, husband Patrick, and nephews Parker and Spencer of Wilmington, NC. Laura was also surrounded in life by many other family members that include cousins, aunts, and uncles. Laura grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and graduated from North Cross School. She attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Colorado. She went on to get her Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies from Evergreen College. Laura was an intelligent woman, whose creative talents, love for music, horses, and connection with nature may never fully be understood. Her soul was and will continue to be one of caring, love, and gentleness towards not just her family and friends, but all creatures on the earth. There will be a celebration of Laura’s life on Wednesday, December 28th at 4pm in Eugene. Friends and Family are asked to come to 3160 Whitten Drive.
