Martha Flores

Martha Garcilazo-Flores, age 49, of Mountain Home passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. A rosary will be held in Martha’s honor at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. A church service will take place at Our Lady of Good Counsel on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Martha was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and aunt and wife. Born in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico on October 15, 1971 Martha was raised alongside her twin brother and two older siblings in Mexico before immigrating to the United States to join the rest of her family when she was eight years old. Martha graduated from Mountain Home Senior High School and later went on to work at the local Paul’s market. She would later move to Las Vegas, Nevada where she would meet her husband and life partner, Amador Flores and give birth to her first child. Upon returning to Idaho, Martha returned to Paul’s Market where much of the Mountain Home community came to know and love her. Martha couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone she knew from her time working at Paul’s. Those who got to know Martha loved her contagious smile and friendly personality. She eventually came to find her passion working with children at the Friends of Children & Families Head Start becoming an assistant teacher and earning her Child Development Associate's Degree up until her death. Her greatest pride and joy were her children. Martha always yearned to be a mother bringing three boys into the world: Anthony born in December 2001, followed by Alex born October 2003, and Diego born in September 2008. You would always catch her at her kids’ baseball and basketball games, cheering them on. Even when games interfered with each other, Martha made sure family was there cheering the boys on, covering all the bases. Her proudest role in life was being a mother to her three children, who she loved infinitely. Martha was adventurous and loved traveling. She loved trying new restaurants and cafes wherever she went. She loved to cook for her friends and family and made the best flan. She loved making summer trips to Las Vegas to visit her sister where she loved getting her fix of In-n-Out burgers, local mexican food, and aguas frescas. Martha will always be remembered as someone who cherished her family. Through thick and thin, family and loyalty were always her two most admirable values. She leaves behind her father Jose Garcilazo of Mountain Home, three sisters and three brothers: Teresa Guadarrama of Mountain Home, Victor Garcilazo of Kuna, her twin brother Hector Garcilazo of Kimberly, Alex Garcilazo of Mountain Home, Veronica Pedraza of Las Vegas, Nevada and Patsy Garcilazo of Mountain Home. She leaves behind 21 nieces and nephews, many of whom saw Martha as their second mom.
