February 18th, 1948 - August 22nd, 2018
Sean Cutaia Smith, 70, of Surprise, AZ, passed away peacefully at home August 22, 2018. His unexpected passing has left his family in great sorrow and all who knew him will forever miss his loving, caring, generous spirit. Sean was born February 18, 1948, and spent his childhood growing up in Boise, Idaho. He attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 until being honorably discharged in 1970. He was a Specialist in the 1st Cavalry Division Airmobile where he was awarded the Air Medal for combat support in Vietnam during the period of 1968-1969. After his service was completed, he returned to Boise and began his career working for the Holiday Inn and was soon promoted to North-West District Sales Manager. He really enjoyed this position, and he made many life-long friends in his travels throughout Idaho and Alberta, Canada. Sean worked for Shakey’s Pizza of Utah for 10 years, and has now enjoyed a 22-year career with Lowe’s. Sean was so very proud of his three children Jimi, Tracy, and Galen and the adults they grew up to be. They were treasured in his heart, and always on his mind. The many friendships Sean had made meant the world to him. He had a gift for bringing people together. He listened and brought the best out of people and made them laugh, and love, and enjoy the time they shared. He genuinely cared about each one of you! A favorite hobby for Sean was travel. He and David traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean, the UK, and Europe. They had just returned from a wonderful trip to Italy and Croatia in April, where they shared so many great pictures of all their stops. Sean is survived by his friend and children: David Kubena, AZ, Jimi R. Smith (Bob), AZ, Tracy Cain, AZ, Galen (Rachel) Reiken, WA.
