Dr. Ramon Gary Shoen, 85, passed away of cancer in the comfort of his home in Eagle, Idaho on November 17th, 2018. He was surrounded and supported by his family and friends until his passing. Ramon was born on February 26th 1933 in farmhouse in Turner, Oregon to Samuel Shoen and Sophia (Appert) Shoen. He was the youngest of 7 children. Ramon graduated from Reed College and the University of Oregon Medical School. After graduating Ramon worked as a physician for Douglas Aircraft in Southern California. Here Ramon met his beloved wife Elissa Mae Dudley. Ramon and Elissa were married on April 11th, 1964 in Hollywood, California. They later moved to Scottsdale Arizona where they had two sons, Jay and Jon, and Ramon worked designing medical labs for Amerco. In 1978 the family moved to Las Vegas where Ramon worked for several years as a physician for the Nevada Test Site before deciding to specialize in emergency medicine. Ramon worked as an ER physician in Las Vegas until his retirement in 1995. During this time Ramon enjoyed skiing and fishing with his family. When Ramon's wife Elissa passed away in 2006, Ramon moved to Boise to be near his son Jay. In Boise he met his dear friend WenHua Hawkins with whom he enjoyed dining out and playing ping pong at BSU. Ramon was an active member and usher at Christ Presbyterian Church in Boise. Ramon is survived by his two sons, Jay Russell Shoen of Boise, Idaho and Jon Vincent Shoen of Austin, Texas, their spouses, RaNae Shoen and Jennifer Shoen; and 4 grandchildren Steven Shoen, Joshua Shoen, David Shoen and Mollie Shoen. Ramon will be buried next to his wife, Elissa at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands, California.
