James Marion Rees
February 26th, 1939 - December 11th, 2018
James Marion Rees, 79 of Boise, Idaho passed away at home on December 11, 2018. Jim was born February 26, 1939 to Carlos M. and Lola T. Rees in Thayer, Missouri and was the oldest of four children. His family moved to Richfield, Idaho when he was 16 years old and he graduated high school in Richfield in 1957. Jim received his Associates degree from Boise Junior College and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Utah State University. While attending Boise Junior College he was a member of the baseball team. While at Utah State he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Jim earned his professional engineering and land surveying licenses from the state of Idaho and spent his entire career doing consulting engineering and surveying in the Boise area. He served a term as president of the Consulting Engineers of Idaho. Jim was an avid Bronco fan as well as a resident of the “Bronco Nation” when it was just a territory. He was a life time member of the BAA and a member of the Presidents Club. Go Broncos! Jim was a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge, El Korah Shrine, and Elks Club. He was Potentate of El Korah Temple in 1999. He served on the Board of Governors of Salt Lake City Shrine Hospital for 12 years and was on the Board of Directors of Boise Elks Rehab Hospital for 8 years. Jim married Eleanore (Ellie) Moore in December of 1969. Jim and Ellie both enjoyed travel and their journeys that took them to New Zealand, Alaska, Europe, and points in between. They enjoyed spending time at their cabin and golfing at Terrace Lakes and made many trips to the Pacific Coast for salmon and halibut. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ellie, brother Ed and sister Leola. He is survived by his brother Bill (Bobby) Rees of Eagle, ID, a special and true friend Carol Glimp of Boise, ID, and sisters-in-law Renee Rees, of Eagle, ID, and Mary Lou (Steve) Peterson of Juneau, Alaska, JoAnn Moore of Eagle, ID, 10 nieces and nephews, and their children. A viewing will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W Bannock Street, Boise. Funeral Services will be 11 am Monday, December 17, 2018, also at Summers Funeral Home, Boise. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. A reception will be at El Korah Shrine Club after the burial. In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim and Ellie Rees Scholarship Fund at Boise State University or your favorite charity.
